Many children struggle with observably 'challenging' behaviours that can stop them from being successful in their play, learning and relationships. This 'big' behaviour can also impact the dynamics within the care environment, leading to frustration and stress for Educators. Learning to understand challenging behaviours (and the needs behind those behaviours) is an important first step to supporting children to manage their overwhelming feelings in a developmentally and socially acceptable way. This session will allow participants to explore behaviours within the context of developmental trauma and as a form of communication. Understand the importance of connection and attunement in not only supporting children who are dysregulated but also in identifying early warning signs and working in a proactive, rather than reactive, way.
