Early Intervention Practitioner - Allied Health Professionals:
The ‘Early Intervention Practitioner’ is responsible for providing therapeutic support to children, as well as building the capacity of the team around the child. Close collaboration with early childhood educators and children’s families forms a vital component of the role.
This collaboration involves providing mentoring and coaching regarding trauma-informed practice, and providing strategic recommendations around modifications to physical care environments, transitions, routines and interactions.
Case management, progress noting, NDIS/Assessment report development are further components of the role.
All of the work undertaken in our early intervention space occurs within the child’s natural environment; childcare centres, OSHC, community centres and schools. Access to a reliable vehicle is necessary for this role.
Essential Requirements
Relevant tertiary education (Occupational Therapy/Speech Pathology/Social Worker/Early Childhood Educator)
Registration with relevant discipline body
Experience in working with children from complex needs and family contexts (advantageous)
Demonstrated an ability to communicate and establish rapport with a wide range of people
Knowledge of relevant legislation (eg. NDIS)
High level of time management and organisational skills
Professional and approachable character
A current valid driver’s license
A satisfactory National Criminal History Check
A satisfactory DSCI Working with Children Check
Current Responding to Abuse and Neglect training
Child Development Practitioner:
The ‘Child Development Practitioner’ is responsible for providing advice and support to Educators regarding children’s behaviour, including the following topics:
Brain development and the impact of developmental trauma
Understanding challenging behaviours within the context of developmental trauma
Attachment within the context of early childhood
Strategies to support regulation (co-regulation & self-regulation)
The impact of the environment on children’s behaviours
Supporting repair following rupture
The importance of Educator self-care
The Child Development Practitioner is responsible for providing mentoring and coaching regarding trauma-informed practice, and providing practical strategies including; modifications to physical care environments, transitions, routines and interactions.
Essential Requirements
Relevant tertiary education (in Early Childhood Teaching or a related discipline in Allied Health), or equivalent experience in early learning environments
Demonstrated an ability to communicate and establish rapport with a wide range of people
Knowledge of relevant legislation (including EYLF and NQS)
Understanding of adult learning principles
High level of time management and organisational skills
A current valid driver’s license
A satisfactory National Criminal History Check
A satisfactory DSCI Working with Children Check
Current Responding to Abuse and Neglect training
