Child Development Practitioner

Nicola has an Honours degree in Psychology and specialised in the field of Infant Mental Health. Her further study which guides her practice includes Marte Meo and Circle of Security.

Nicola has over 7 years of experience working with children in many different roles including through mother’s and babies groups, through work as a therapist for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and most recently as a mentor in the Early Learning Education and Care sector. It’s through these roles she was able to gain extensive experience in child development, child protection and the importance of play and inclusion.

Using neuroscience and trauma informed practice, she aims to help others understand children’s behaviour and development all while bringing a calm but playful presence to her work.

Nicola believes that relationships are key, especially when it comes to working with children. She understands that children should always be considered in the context of their relationships and the relationships they forge have incredible potential to help them learn, thrive and heal.

This is one of the reasons she enjoys working with educators so much. Educators have such an astounding opportunity to influence the trajectory of children’s lives. Through working and learning together with educators, we are working towards a better world where all children can feel safe, supported and thrive, helping them grow up into loving and productive members of our society, even in the face of adversity.

Outside of work, Nicola loves spending time outdoors and with her nieces and nephews.
