Exploring Regulation

3 Hours

This session is designed to equip educators and professionals with practical tools and strategies for supporting the recovery of children and young people who have experienced trauma. The workshop introduces key concepts, including the Window of Tolerance by Dan Siegel, shedding light on the impact of stress and trauma on regulation. Participants delve into the Neuroception of Safety by Stephen Porges, gaining insights into the importance of 'felt safety' in the regulatory process.

The session also introduces 'The Three R’s' by Bruce Perry, providing a comprehensive framework for therapeutic intervention. Through reflective discussion, participants will explore the nuanced difference between co-regulation and self-regulation, fostering a deeper understanding of effective support mechanisms.

This workshop goes beyond talk-based interventions, recognizing the need for body-based approaches. It provides an opportunity for experiential learning, offering practitioners in various settings strategies to promote repair and healing. Drawing from sensorimotor psychotherapy, movement interventions, and play-based modalities, this session provides a holistic toolkit for professionals committed to supporting the wellbeing of children and young people.
